2025 69th Public Swimming Class Outline

Co-hosted by Kamakura City and Kamakura City Sports Association, organized by Kamakura Swimming Association, supported by Kamakura City Board of Education

Swimming season is finally upon us. Thanks to your support, we have successfully held our 69th public swimming class. This year, we will hold the class at six locations.

It looks like this summer will be hot too.

Children who can't swim are welcome, everyone can learn to swim! 

  1. Period

    Schedule A: July 21st (Mon) to July 25th (Fri) 5 consecutive days

    B Schedule: August 4th (Monday) to August 8th (Friday), 5 consecutive days

    ※ At each pool, the event will proceed if it is light rain, but if two days are canceled due to bad weather, the event will be postponed for one day, to the day after the final day.

  2. Time

    10:00 a.m. to noon.

  3. Venue

    A Schedule: Second Elementary and Junior High School Shared Pool (A1): Second Elementary and Junior High School

    Fukazawa Elementary School and Fujizuka Elementary School Shared Pool (A2): Fukazawa Elementary School and Junior High School, Fujizuka Elementary School

    Tamanawa Elementary and Junior High School Shared Pool (A3): Sekiya Elementary School, Tamanawa Elementary and Junior High School, Ueki Elementary School

    B Schedule: Seaside Park Swimming Pool (B1): Daiichi Elementary and Junior High School, Onari Elementary and Junior High School, Inamuragasaki Elementary School, Shichirigahama Elementary School, Yuigahama Junior High School

    Osaka elementary school  pool  (B2):Ofuna Elementary and Junior High School, Yamazaki Elementary School, Osaka Elementary School, Imaizumi Elementary School, Iwase Junior High School

    Kosigoe elementary school pool (B3): Koshigoe Elementary and Junior High School, Nishi Kamakura Elementary School, Tehiro Junior High School

    Students from affiliated Kamakura elementary and junior high schools, as well as private elementary and junior high schools, can also participate at a venue close to their home.

    In addition, you can participate at the venue of your choice regardless of the allocation for each pool above.

  4. Fixed number of members

    Each venue will accept only 40 applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.

  5. Application Eligibility

    Children in the third grade or above of elementary school and junior high school students who live and attend school in Kamakura City (swimming ability of less than 25 meters is required as a rule).

    ※ However, you must be healthy and not suffer from eye diseases, internal organ diseases, or paroxysmal heart diseases. You must not have had symptoms such as convulsions within the past year. Also, you must not currently be suffering from any infectious or infectious diseases.

    ※ Able to understand what the instructor is saying, behave in a group, behave safely with their peers, and be able to change clothes by themselves without assistance.

    A Japan Sports Association certified swimming instructor with extensive experience in swimming instruction.

  7. Teaching Method

    While basically conducting group lessons, we aim to identify each individual's weak points and improve their skills through individual lessons. On the first day, we divide students into groups based on their swimming ability level, and provide instruction to each group starting from the level appropriate for their swimming ability.

  8. Course fee

    3,500 yen (including insurance fee)

  9. How to apply

    • Please check the requirements on the Kamakura Swimming Association website (https://www.ksuikyo.com), proceed to the application form for the participating venue, fill in all the required fields, and submit. We will reply to you by email to confirm your application.
      Within two days of sending the application, please transfer the course fee of 3,500 yen to the following account using the "Venue No. Participant Name" for each application. [Example: A1 Kamakura Taro]
      Your application will be completed upon submission of the application form and payment of the course fee.
    • The personal information entered in the application form will be used for the smooth running of this class and will not be used for any other purpose. It will also be destroyed once the class has ended and all processing has been completed.
    • Applications will only be accepted via the website. Applications will not be accepted by mail or telephone.

  11. Application period

    June 22nd (Sun) 7:00am - July 2nd (Wed) 9:00pm

     However, applications will close once the maximum number of participants has been reached.

  12. Participation confirmation

    After the application period ends, we will send the second set of requirements by email to those whose payment has been confirmed.

    Application related

    • If your application is false or falls outside the eligibility requirements, your application may be refused.
    • If there are any points that require special attention or consideration in the instruction, please write them in the special notes section.
    • Once you have applied, the course fee will not be refunded. However, if you are unable to participate in the entire course, we will refund the fee minus the expenses already paid and bank transfer fees.
    • The course ticket will be given to you on the first day of class.

    Safety measures

    • All participants are covered by accident insurance.
    • We will provide first aid for accidents that occur in the pool, but please note that we cannot take responsibility.
      The insurance covers travel to and from the venue. Please be careful of traffic accidents.
    • Please bring drinks to prevent heatstroke.

    Classroom

    • Please wear a swimsuit.
    • Sun-protective clothing (rash guards) and baggy pants will hinder your improvement.
      Please bring a swimsuit that fits snugly against your body and is easy to swim in.
    • Swim caps will be provided on the first day.
    • Please note that swim caps and goggles will not be provided for rental. Please be careful not to forget them.
    • Please bring a bag to store your clothes and store them by the pool.
    • Please write names on all belongings to prevent children from mistaking each other for items.
    • A swimming test will be held on the final day.
    • Parents are welcome to observe as well, so please feel free to do so.
